Each semester, K-LAB, a series of programs and activities that enables business students to work in supportive settings, where they can test and improve their professional skills, hosts a group of undergraduate students and leaders to enjoy an informal lunch with Kogod School of Business Interim Dean Erran Carmel. Leaders and members from several clubs and organizations such as Undergraduate Business Association, the 1955 Club, AKPsi Business Fraternity and Entrepreneurs Club were on hand this month to participate.

"I have come several times because I come to hear what others have to say. My interest is in the ideas and concerns of other students," said Alexandra Zeiger, club president of the Undergraduate Business Association.

At this semester's "Dish with the Dean," students discussed ways to increase involvement in clubs, the sharing of club resources, the new course registration system and other ways to get students engaged in clubs at Kogod.

"Getting the student body together and more involved is perhaps our most difficult issue, as is with most of these organizations," said Zuliana Burnett from the American Fashion Society (AFS). AFS is one of the newer clubs on campus, and Burnett sees meeting with the Dean as a chance to discuss student participation, which is an issue that is shared by most campus clubs.

Aside from exploring topics such as club connections, Kogod courses and class sizes, Dean Carmel took time out of the discussion to provide students with advice. "As an educator, I encourage almost all students to target for yourself one business book a month," said Dean Carmel. This allows students to expand their knowledge from the outside world while keeping connected with their studies.

"Innovation is not just an idea, it’s the ability to execute that idea," said Dean Carmel.
