Join us for the New York City Finance Trip.
The Kogod School of Business and the Office of Career Engagement invite you to participate in the 2019 NYC Finance Trek over spring break (Thursday, March 14th - Friday, March 15th, 2019). This trip is open to all American University freshmen and sophomore students interested in pursuing a career in finance in New York and will be capped at 25 participants. Preference will be given to those students who exhibit a clear interest in careers related to finance and who have not previously attended.
About the Trip:
Attend site visits with top tier financial firms over the course of the two days and have the opportunity to engage with New York-based alumni at a student-alumni networking event on March 14th. All participants will be expected to attend a pre-trek workshop (date to be announced) and all site visits.
All participants are responsible for making travel and lodging arrangements, as well as for all meals unless otherwise indicated in the final schedule. The first 25 students who have met the application criteria will be notified by email on Tuesday, February 21.

Unofficial copy of transcript and minimum GPA of 3.00
An essay of 300 words or less on why you would like to attend the trip, and your expectations for how it will impact your career development.
Update your resume using the resume template and guide provided in Handshake. The template and guide are available on Handshake under Career Center > Resources.
Get feedback on your resume via VMock. Sign in at Vmock.com/Kogod, upload a PDF of your resume, and use the feedback provided to make revisions. Make sure to achieve a score of at least 65 on your resume (with at least a 30/30 on the presentation benchmark). The benchmarks align with our template and guide.
Submit to the Office of Career Engagement. In VMock, select "Network Feedback" along the left side of your student dashboard, and follow the prompts to select your updated resume and add a reviewer. Add Wanda Lucas (email@example.com) as the reviewer and note in the comments section that the review is for the NYC finance Trek.
Note: Wanda will review your resume within 3 business days and will let you know if any additional updates are needed before your resume is approved for the trip.

Registration Cost: $100.00
This fee will cover the networking reception and all material for the pre-trip boot camp.
*This fee is non-refundable and must be submitted to the front desk at the Office of Career Engagement by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. You can pay using cash, check, or money order. Checks and money orders must be made payable to American University. Students who do not pay the fee by the deadline may be replaced by students from the wait-list.
All trip attendees are required to attend the Finance Boot Camp. These events are open to any other students interested in learning more about the finance and real estate industries as well as students on the waitlist.
If you are selected and know you are not able to attend, please send an email to Rebecca Ross at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP so that a student on the waitlist can be added to the attendee list.
Those students who are not accepted will be added to a waitlist and are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-trip workshops in the event a spot becomes available.
Students are expected and required to attend ALL event-related activities including the Boot Camp Sessions, the evening Event/Networking Reception and all site visits. In addition, students must arrive 20 minutes early to each activity in NYC in order to check-in with a designated Kogod staff member.
