BACKGROUND: Filmed in Malawi and Sierra Leone, SHOUT GLADI GLADI spotlights the quest of Ann Gloag, the indefatigable philanthropist and former nurse, driving the movement to save African women and girls from a medical condition that can turn them into reviled outcasts. The film presents these patients as they tell stirring tales of their struggles and triumphs. Everything culminates with the exuberant Gladi Gladi ceremony, a singing and dancing blowout that marks the day the women and girls return home cured. Featured interviews include Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and Melinda Gates, cofounder of the Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation.

Executive produced and directed by American University alumnus Adam Friedman and co-directed by Iain Kennedy. The film had its New York and Los Angeles theatrical premieres on October 2nd.

This is a film about hope, resilience, maternal health, philanthropy, and empowerment.

The October 7 DC premiere will be followed by a discussion with Adam Friedman, the film's co-director, Ann Gloag, founder of the Freedom From Fistula Foundation, and Lucy Mwangi, Country Director for the Freedom From Fistula Foundation in Kenya, responsible for running its fistula health program.
