Dear AU Students,

At the end of last semester (Fall 2019), we piloted a program, “Eagles Helping Eagles,” to allow students to donate unused meal swipes at the end of the semester to fellow students in need. The pilot was very encouraging, with many of you choosing to make donations. We’re pleased to let you know that requests for donated meal swipes can now be taken and the swipes distributed.

Here’s how to request a donated meal swipe:

  • Make a request by filling out this "Eagles Helping Eagles" request form with your AU ID number, email address and answers to a few short questions.
  • You’ll receive an email within two business days letting you know if a meal swipe has been transferred for your use. (A maximum of 10 swipes can be transferred to a student per semester, depending on the number available and the other requests received.)

On the form, you will also be asked if you have requested access to or recently used The Market, AU’s food pantry. This is not an eligibility factor. Prior use of the Market is not required to receive meal swipes. As with The Market, there is no requirement to document financial need to benefit from this resource.

Swipes will be distributed on a “first come, first served” basis. If a student requests a meal swipe but can’t receive it, they’ll be told why. (Reasons for not receiving a meal swipe could be because the ID or email isn’t currently valid, the requester has meal swipes available on an active plan, or the donated swipes have run out.)

Donated swipes are being kept in a separate account by the One Card office for distribution.

We’d like to extend a huge “thank you” to the campus community for your partnership in this pilot program and in helping Eagles to help Eagles!

If you have questions, either about the donated swipes or The Market, AU’s food pantry program, please feel free to reach out to Tony Hollinger, Director of Military-affiliate Support and Special Initiatives, in MGC 303, at 202-885-1015, or by emailing
