Student Health Advisory Committee

The Student Health Center is committed to helping students maintain good health so they can achieve success in all areas of campus life. We rely on our students to assist us in this endeavor and we give them the opportunity to do so with our Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC). The SHAC plays an integral role in facilitating student feedback and using that feedback to advocate for the continuation and advancement of quality health care. The SHAC meets once per month during the academic year.

Members of the Student Health Advisory Committee:
  • Will develop skills enabling them to understand and participate in decisions concerning health care and the delivery of health care services to the student body
  • Will acquire knowledge of accessing medical services, the costs of medical care, the necessity for medical insurance, and will assist in educating other students by sharing this knowledge
  • Will assist their peers in developing the skills to recognize and engage in healthy behaviors to reduce the risk of illness and injury

Four members of the SHAC are appointed to the committee through an application. The remaining six student members are representatives from student government organizations. These include representatives from undergraduate students, graduate students, and law students.
