Volunteer Information

Specific Tasks include:

  • TEAM ONE: North Side Sorting- McDowell, Hughes, Leonard, Cassell
    • Volunteers will be set up in the Leonard Chancery and be asked to clean items collected by the collection team. Items will then be sorted into donation, recycle and resale sections.
    • Time Commitment will include 4-8 hour days on May 6-8th and May 10-12th.
  • TEAM TWO: North Side Collection
    • Volunteers will be asked to collect items twice a day (once in the morning and once in the early evening) from the designated social lounge of the North Side Residence Halls.
    • Time Commitment will include 3-6 hour days on May 6-8th and May 10th-12th as well as 1-2 hour days on May 2nd- 5th and May 9th.
  • TEAM THREE: South Side Sorting- Letts, Anderson, Centennial, Clark, Roper
    • Volunteers will be set up in Anderson 2U and be asked to clean items collected by the collection team. Items will then be sorted into donation, recycle and resale sections.
    • Time Commitment will include 4-8 hour days on May 6-8th and May 10-12th.
  • TEAM FOUR: South Side Collection
    • Volunteers will be asked to collect items twice a day (once in the morning and once in the early evening) from the designated social lounge of the South Side Residence Halls.
    • Time Commitment will include 3-6 hour days on May 6-8th and May 10th-12th as well as 1-2 hour days on May 2nd- 5th and May 9th.
  • TEAM FIVE: Freshmen Move-In Sale
    • Volunteers will be asked to set-up for the freshmen move-in sale, including unpacking the POD, hanging clothes, and organizing other materials.
    • Volunteers will also be needed for checking customers out, directing customers, and answering questions.
    • Time Commitment will include 4-8 hour shifts on August 22nd-23rd.
  • TEAM SIX: Upperclassmen Move-In Sale
    • Volunteers will be asked to set-up for the freshmen move-in sale, including unpacking the POD, hanging clothes, and organizing other materials.
    • Volunteers will also be needed for checking customers out, directing customers, and answering questions.
    • Time Commitment will include 4-8 hour shifts on August 29th-30th. 

Volunteer Incentives:

  • Volunteers will receive free t-shirts, meals during shifts longer than 4 hours, and potentially $10-15 gift cards for a place of their choosing.

  • Students volunteering for Move-Out will be allowed to remain in their residence hall rooms until May 12th at noon.

  • Students volunteering for Move-In will be allowed early arrival into a residence hall room starting August 21st.

Volunteers will be expected to attend a two-hour mandatory training session prior to Move-Out. This will help explain their responsibilities more in-depth. They will also receive their volunteer t-shirts as well as lunch. This will be held on Sunday April 19th from 10am-12pm in the Letts Formal Lounge

**Project Move-Out volunteers are not to be in any residence halls for any other reason than to perform their job function during the designated Project Move-Out times. Any students in violation of this will have their access removed, and be charged with violation of the Student Code of Conduct.
