Domestically, first-year students come from 48 states and Puerto Rico. The four states most represented are New Jersey, New York, California, and Massachusetts.

Multiracial: 5 percent

Total underrepresented minorities: 20 percent

International: 4 percent. Excluding the US, 46 nationalities are represented.

2000: NSYNC’s No Strings Attached is the top-selling album.

2018: Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys is the top album so far, according to Nielsen Music metrics that include streaming and digital sales. Former NSYNC member Justin Timberlake performs at the Super Bowl.

2000: Super Bowl Champions: St. Louis Rams.

2000: NBA Champions: Los Angeles Lakers. Finals MVP: Shaquille O’Neal.

2018: NBA Champions: Golden State Warriors. Shaq is a TNT NBA analyst.

2000: World Series Champions: New York Yankees. Series MVP: Derek Jeter.

2017: World Series Champions: Houston Astros. Jeter is CEO of the Miami Marlins.

2000: Stanley Cup Champions: New Jersey Devils.

2018: Stanley Cup Champions: Washington Capitals.

2000: The state of Vermont passes landmark law legalizing civil unions for same-sex couples.

2018: Same-sex marriage is legal throughout the United States.

2000: The California electricity crisis hits with rolling blackouts.

2018: The Mendocino Complex fire is declared the largest in California state history.

2000: The AOL Time Warner merger is announced to much fanfare.
