American University ranked second among medium-sized colleges and universities with the most Peace Corps volunteers, climbing one spot from last year. Fifty-one AU alumni are currently volunteering around the globe according to the rankings, released Feb. 11.
AU also earned the No. 5 spot among graduate schools, with 14 Peace Corps volunteers.
Schools are ranked according to the size of the student body. Medium-sized schools have 5,000 to 15,000 undergrads.
Since its founding in 1961, about 200,000 volunteers from more than 3,000 institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico have served in the Peace Corps. Currently, there are 7,671 volunteers serving in 76 countries around the world.
