We want you to consider us your one stop hub for wellness. What does that mean exactly? It means you can count on us for research-based training, health promotion, and individualized wellness consults--or just stop by and pick up some free condoms, lube, and more.

And, for any RAs, PAs, or curious folks out there, check out our fact sheet library below. Whether you are looking for information on contraception, STI prevention, consent, or substance use or abuse, we've got you covered. For each topic, click "learn more" for a more detailed infographic or fact sheet. 

As always, if there's a wellness topic you'd like to see covered that you don't see below, let us know! We'll do our best to accommodate you.

The Wellness Center conducts a range of workshops and outreach activities around campus. Our staff provides programming and targeted training for various populations within the campus community. When contacting us for a workshop, please allow 2-3 weeks' notice for planning purposes. 

We have recently provided specialized training to Campus Life administrative staff, the Academic Support and Access Center, faculty, various student organizations, the Conduct Council, and the AU Police Department. 

Sample programs include:

Working in wellness means that we get to help students feel better for a living. This means taking a proactive approach to student health and wellness. When students feel sick or stressed, they might make an appointment at the Health Center or Counseling Center. And that's great! But proactive wellness means taking steps to promote one's wellness prior to getting sick or feeling bad.  

Alternately, sometimes students feels like they want help, but they are not sure where to start. One common scenario is that students feel stressed by their workload, which impacts their sleep, which in turn impacts energy, mood, social life, and school performance.  

Where would you even start?   

Consider contacting the Wellness Center for a free 30 minute "Wellness Consult." During this time, we will assess your immediate needs, help you develop an self-care action plan, and provide referrals to specialized care on or off campus. We provide consults on the following additional topics:  

  • Self-care 
  • Sexual Health
  • Reproductive health/birth control methods 
  • Alcohol & drug use 
  • Healthy relationships 
  • Sleep

At the Wellness Center, we believe that students are adults who are free to make their own choices when it comes to sex. In keeping with best practice in the health promotion, we are dedicated to promoting safe, consensual, and healthy sexual behavior among those who choose to have sex. 

The Wellness Center maintains a collection of free sexual health resources that are available from Monday through Friday 9-5 in our office in Hughes Hall, suite 105. When you come to the front desk, just tell the receptionist that you are going to the Wellness Center.  

We currently carry: 

  • A variety of regular lubricated male condoms 
  • Extra large lubricated roll-on (male) condoms 
  • Non-latex insertive (female) condoms 
  • Water-based lubricant packets
  • Latex dental dams

Nationwide, 60% of college students drink alcohol regularly. At AU, 76% do. However:

  • Approximately two out of every three college students who drink regularly participate in binge drinking.

  • With condoms *alone* up to 24 out of 100 women will become pregnant. 
  • With an IUD, only 1 woman in 100 will.
