Dear AU community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that longtime women’s volleyball coach Barry Goldberg passed away this weekend.

Barry was a legend, not only because of what he accomplished on the volleyball court, but because he had such a profound impact on the American University community. Today, we mourn with his wife Bonnie, his children, and his grandchildren, and we remember the many ways in which he set the standard for the things we hold most dear: supporting our students and leading with integrity and excellence.

Barry’s legacy lives on through the many lives that he touched during the 34 years he coached our Eagles and the volleyball court that will bear his name. His tremendous heart, determination, and commitment will never be forgotten. AU is and always will be Barry’s home. To read more about Barry and his impact, click here.
