Lydia Fettig

Senior Professorial Lecturer Department of Literature

Lydia Morris Fettig spent her early life in coastal Connecticut and upstate New York before migrating west to Oregon to complete her undergraduate work in social science at Reed College and Portland State University. After returning to the east coast in 1998 to earn an M.F.A. in creative writing, she met her husband, gave birth to three beautiful children, rescued several animals, and completed a short stint as a Parole and Probation Agent for the State of Maryland. Prior to teaching at AU, she taught writing and literature courses at University of Maryland University College for four years. Her interests include modern and post-modern American literature, the study of deviance, and the complex relationships between humans and other animals. Her short stories have been published in Rude Girl Press, Gargoyle Magazine, and Abundant Grace.
