- Kayla Phillips is a doctoral intern at American University’s Counseling Center (AUCC) and a doctoral candidate at Auburn University's Counseling Psychology PhD program. She has provided individual and group therapy services to adolescents and adults in a community mental health clinic, hospital outpatient setting, and university counseling setting. She approaches clinical practice through a multicultural and social justice lens. Her therapeutic style is integrative and primarily grounded in feminist theory. Kayla’s areas of clinical interest include racial trauma, adjustment and life transitions, relationship/family distress, intersectionality, race related stress, and the experiences of students of color on campus. Outside of work she enjoys visiting different museums in the DC area, trying new food, and watching Netflix.
