Katya Popova is a marketing executive with over 15 years of experience in leading strategic communications, brand management, and digital transformations. Currently serving as the Chief Marketing Officer at American University’s Kogod School of Business, Katya has a proven track record of elevating educational institutions through data-driven decision-making and innovative marketing strategies. Under her leadership, the Kogod School of Business is undergoing an AI marketing transformation that is redesigning the school’s marketing strategies and operations. This AI transformation has been widely featured in multiple media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Times Higher Education’s Poets & Quants, AACSB (the global business school accreditation body), and more. Under her leadership, Poets & Quants called Kogod's AI efforts "the most consequential AI transformation in business education."
Before joining American University, Katya was the Director of Marketing at Rice University, where she led a digital overhaul that substantially increased enrollment and redefined the school's brand presence. Her early career also includes impactful roles at NOV, at the time a Fortune-200 company, where she spearheaded major digital media initiatives and managed a comprehensive rebranding across over 200 brands.
