Bio
Michelle develops educational opportunities and student support initiatives to heighten the campus community’s critical consciousness and cultural competency. With a deep investment in students’ experience, Michelle designs identity-based community initiatives and advises students on their personal, professional, academic, and identity development. Michelle joined the Center for Diversity & Inclusion as the Coordinator, Dialogue and Diversity Programs where she managed Intergroup Dialogue; developed and facilitated campus-wide trainings; managed community initiatives; and advised and consulted with students, staff, and faculty on inclusive practices. Michelle began her higher education career as a Coordinator at UC San Diego’s LGBT Resource Center before earning a Master’s in Student Affairs from the University of Maryland, College Park. At the University of Maryland, Michelle managed community & wellness programs in the Office of Graduate Student Life, served as the Safe Space Coordinator at the LGBT Equity Center, and facilitated and instructed Intergroup Dialogue courses through the Office of Diversity & Inclusion. When she’s not working, Michelle enjoys walking trails, yoga, and Black feminist novels.
