Dr. Frances Rekrut is a licensed psychologist in the District of Columbia and a staff clinician at the American University Counseling Center where she provides individual and group therapy as well as crisis intervention and outreach/consultation. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology right here at American University in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining American University’s Counseling Center, Dr. Rekrut completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at the Catholic University of America and her postdoctoral fellowship at George Washington University. Dr. Rekrut implements an integrative approach to treatment, focused on the therapeutic relationship, which is informed by relational and multicultural perspectives and well as cognitive-behavioral and ACT-based interventions. Dr. Rekrut’s specialty interests include working with clients with OCD, grief, anxiety disorders, relationship, and adjustment concerns, as well as working with students with disabilities, the LGBT+ community, and international students.
