Bio
Sanjana Kumar is a Doctoral Intern at the American University Counseling Center where she provides individual and group therapy, and outreach/ consultation services. She is completing her doctorate degree in clinical psychology at the George Washington University’s Professional Psychology (PsyD) program. Prior to joining the AUCC staff, Sanjana’s clinical experiences have included working in university counseling, community mental health, and school settings. Sanjana’s work with clients is guided by a foundation in psychodynamic theory and places focus on relational and multicultural elements. She values building a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, and utilizes an integrative and flexible approach to meet clients wherever they may be. Her clinical interests include trauma, interpersonal and relationship concerns, transitions, and identity development. She has a special interest in working with immigrant populations, and specifically in the development of identity within a non-native context.
