Maya joined AU in April 2016. She returned to DC in January 2016 after living in St. Louis for 3 years studying at graduate school. In grad school, she earned her MSW and MPH degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. Maya is passionate about comprehensive, trauma-informed advocacy, care provision, educational programming, and policies for vulnerable and underserved populations. Academic and professional interests include violence prevention, somatic expressions of trauma, sexual health, systems science, holistic and integrated healthcare solutions, LGBT health, and HIV/STI work. Personal interests include cooking, practicing pilates and yoga, watching too much Bravo reality TV, and playing with her cat Waffles.
