Karen a Mascarinas

Karen Amethyst Mascariñas graduated with a Master's in Ethics, Peace and Global Affairs Program from American University's School of International Service. Her research interests focused primarily on the wide-ranging ethical implications of emerging technologies on global society. She was particularly interested in considering how cyber, automation, and artificial intelligence will impact current and future conceptions of human rights narratives. Karen has previously worked on digital infrastructure research within ASEAN countries for the East-West Center in Washington and is currently collaborating on a project related to the Cybersecurity Framework developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the Kogod Cybersecurity Governance Center. As a third culture kid, Karen was imbued with a love for travel and hopes to continue this path through her future career.
