Madeline McPherson

MS - Justice, Law & Society

Maddie McPherson is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Justice, Law, and Society from American University with a focus on Justice and Public Policy. Originally from Pennsylvania, she graduated from Duquesne University in the spring of 2013 with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology and a minor in Spanish. Throughout her undergraduate career, Maddie participated extensively with the national mentoring organization Strong Women, Strong Girls as well as interning with the Center for Race and Gender Equity at YWCA Greater Pittsburgh and Arc Human Services of Washington County, PA. She also spent two years working part-time as a Safety Officer at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.

With interests like race/ethnicity and crime, prison policy reform, death penalty reform, violent crime, and forensic psychology, Maddie is interested in a career in justice research and eventually would like to pursue a PhD.
