- Matthew's research examines the triggers of global conflict. His work is in the sub-discipline of security studies and focuses primarily on the political factors that cause governments to militarily intervene into the civil wars of other states. Matthew’s other areas of interest include foreign policy decision-making and national security strategy. His writing appears with Global Studies Quarterly, H-Diplo, the Atlantic Council, and various newspapers. He has experience as a journalist and political risk analyst.
