Bio
Siobhán McGuirk is a socio-cultural anthropologist specializing in migration and mobility, sexuality and gender, and NGO studies. Her doctoral dissertation is an ethnographic study exploring how LGBT-identified asylum seekers navigate life in the US, both with and without NGO support. Her work is informed by intersectional feminist and queer theory, and she regularly draws on visual methods in her research. As a dedicated public anthropology, Siobhán has contributed her research and writing to a number of advocacy and activist organizations in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
