Samanta Schweblin is one of the most celebrated writers on the world literary stage. She is the author of the novel Fever Dream (Distancia de rescate, 2015) a finalist for the Man Booker International Prize. Her most recent novel, Little Eyes (Kentukis, 2018) was also longlisted for the Man Booker International Prize, as was her collection of short stories A Mouthful of Birds (Pájaros en la boca, 2017). All three works were translated into English by Megan McDowell. Schweblin is also author of the collection of short stories El núcleo de disturbio (2002) and Siete casas vacías (2015). She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Juan Rulfo Prize, the Casa de las Américas Prize and the Konex Prize for her short stories. In 2010 she was chosen by Granta as one of the twenty-two best writers in Spanish under the age of thirty-five. Her books have been translated into twenty-five languages, and her work has appeared in English in The New Yorker and Harper’s Magazine. Originally from Buenos Aires, Schweblin currently lives in Berlin. The film Distancia de rescate, based on her novel and directed by Claudia Llosa, will premiere in October 2021 with Netflix.
