I invite nominations, including self-nominations, from faculty members for a full-time one-year term as Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies. This previously advertised opportunity is occasioned by the continued appointment of Phyllis Peres as Interim Senior Vice Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs. The Interim Vice Provost will report directly to the Provost and serve as a core member of the Academic Affairs leadership team.
The portfolio of responsibilities for this position includes the following key aspects of undergraduate academic programs, experiences, and student success: General Education, University College and Learning Communities, University Honors, the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program, the three-year bachelors program, and the Undergraduate Retention and Success coordinator (to be hired). The Vice Provost also serves on the University Orientation Project Team, the University Experience Council, the Enrollment Management Committee, the Provost’s Operational Council, and the First-Year Project Team. Serving in this capacity is an opportunity to shape and strengthen undergraduate education at American University and make a lasting difference in learning experiences and lives of our students.
