The newly-approved graduate academic regulations will begin to be implemented during the Fall 2012 semester. To assist with a smooth transition to the new regulations and provide adequate time for the community to implement all of the new requirements, and in consultation with the Associate Deans, we have decided to allow the continued use of the in lieu of registration designation for another three semesters, i.e., until the end of the spring 2013 semester, at which time the in lieu of registration designation will be discontinued. This provides additional time and flexibility for the graduate academic programs to adjust and advise students regarding all aspects of the revised graduate regulations.
In addition, to further assist graduate programs, we have developed new courses and registration procedures that will serve some of the functions of the in lieu of registration process and will be in full compliance with Federal regulations. These are available as options, if you choose to use them, for this Fall.
These new courses and registration procedures are described here (PDF). For further questions, please contact Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research, Jonathan Tubman.
