Meet our Personal Trainers

Allie Jackson


Allie is the Fitness Coordinator for Personal Training & Assessments at American University. She received a BS in Health, Physical Education & Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently working on her MS in Health Promotion & Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified health fitness specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and a certified health coach through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Allie has experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness domains. She enjoys all aspects of fitness and is eager to spread that passion to others!

Emily Cea


Emily is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and a Member Service Specialist at Cassell Fitness Center. She strongly believes that exercise helps transcend stress or any problems she is faced with in school or at work. She is pursuing her BS in Health Promotion at American and hopes to go into the field of medicine in the future. With a strong interest in alternative medicine, Emily has a holistic approach to health which incorporates proper nutrition and exercise practices while also maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Chelsea Horne


Chelsea is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. She received both her BS and MS degrees at Binghamton University where she played Division I softball for 4 years. She holds a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has experience in weight training, strength and conditioning, and Crossfit. Chelsea loves working out and looks forward to helping and motivating all her clients to achieve and surpass their training goals.

JV Kirkland


JV is a graduate of AU and studied justice and law.  He regards fitness as the most important aspect of his life.  JV has been teaching fitness classes such as Sculpt & Tone, Killer Kettlebells and Indoor Cycling since August 2014.  He has been a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) since December 2014.  He enjoys working out, competing in power lifting competitions and spending time helping others reach their fitness goals. 

Robert Carter

Allen Irving


Allen is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).  He is currently working towards his Health Promotion degree here at American University.  He has Strength and Conditioning experience working with AU athletes.  Allen has been active his whole life, playing on both club and school sports teams in High School.  He enjoys exercise and believes that physical activity is a large portion of overall wellness.
