Bio
Glenn Chafetz has more than 30 years experience in government, academia, and the private sector. He retired from CIA, where he served multiple overseas tours, including three as Chief of Station. He was also the Directorate of Operations’ first Chief of Tradecraft and Technology. Prior to coming to CIA, Dr. Chafetz served in the State Department and the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. Dr. Chafetz started his career in academia: he was Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Memphis; Senior Research Associate at the Center for International Trade and Security at the University of Georgia; and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Dr. Chafetz’s research and publications focus on Russian foreign policy, foreign policy decision-making, and the theories of identities and roles in international politics. Dr. Chafetz currently directs a nonprofit, 2430 Group, which disseminates information on nation-state theft of intellectual property from American companies and universities. He also serves on the Board of Advisors at Ridgeline International, a company that helps clients manage their digital footprints.
