Asia Pacific University (APU) has a unique multicultural and dual-language (English and Japanese) education system. Nearly 50% of the faculty and student population at APU are foreign nationals from across the globe. The diverse campus, which is located on the island of Kyushu (famous for its hot springs), reflects APU's commitment to overcoming cultural, religious, and racial differences ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
Due to the difference between the APU and AU fall semester dates, AU students may study abroad for either the academic year at APU beginning in the fall or for the spring semester only.
Students will enroll as full-time students for one semester or an entire year alongside APU undergraduate students. Students are allowed to enroll in 12-17 credits in either Asia Pacific Studies (APS) or Asia Pacific Management (APM). Subject areas include:
It is not necessary for international exchange students to have any pre-existing knowledge of Japanese in order to study at APU. Lectures are taught in both English and Japanese in both APS and APM, so exchange students can study in Japanese, English, or both.
For Japanese language students, APU is attractive because two-thirds of both the student body and faculty are Japanese natives or Japanese speakers. Advanced students take four intensive Japanese language classes per week, and can also select courses in interpreting, teaching Japanese, and speaking business Japanese.
