American University’s School of Communication, the Women & Politics Institute, and the Sine Institute of Policy & Politics present a special screening of Knock Down the House, followed by a panel discussion with director Rachel Lears, co-producer Cherry Graziosi, and former congressional candidate Amy Vilela (D-NV-4). Moderation by Molly O’Rourke (School of Communication) and Amy K. Dacey (Sine Institute.)
This Netflix documentary which premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year follows the 2018 congressional campaigns of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Amy Vilela, Cori Bush, and Paula Jean Swearengin and examines the hurdles they faced as first-time candidates taking on an entrenched political system.
