At this time NSLC/DWC courses on campus are filled but you may apply to be on the waitlist. DWC Online courses are still open and available!

Welcome Packets are mailed and emailed out upon registration with information and forms to fill out. To download the Online Packet click here.

Living On Campus Summer 2021:

Students staying on campus for NSLC/DWC will register through the NSLC website. Discover the World of Communication courses are professional, hands-on summer workshops for high school students. Participants will receive a copy of the work they produce, a certificate and an evaluation.

Living On Campus Summer 2022:

Students staying on campus must register for both a morning and afternoon class. Discover the World of Communication courses are professional, hands-on summer workshops for high school students. Participants will receive a copy of the work they produce, a certificate and an evaluation.

Deposit Summer 2022:

A $500 non-refundable deposit will be applied towards course fees, and is due at the time of registration. Make checks out to American University. You can enclose a check with your registration by mail or call 202-885-2098 to pay with credit card. There is a 2.6% convenience fee for credit card transactions.

Cancellations Summer 2022:

If you wish to withdraw from a course, email your cancellation request to audiscover@american.edu. To receive a refund, you must notify us 30 days prior to the first class. A $275 nonrefundable processing fee will apply.

Yes! There are three convenient ways to pay for the program.

Register and pay for the program Online, coming September 2020!

Send a check made payable to American University, along with a printed copy of the Discover the World of Communication registration form to: American University, Discover the World of Communication, McKinley Room 237, 4400 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20016

International students may pay for the program via wire transfer. Contact us at audiscover@american.edu and include the registration form completed.


You may make arrangements to extend your payments, but all payments must be made, in full, prior to the start of the program. Your payment must cover the cost of all the courses you select and the housing, dining, metro and after hours and weekend activities of $1950 (two weeks) or $4350 (four weeks), if you wish to live on campus.

The fee covers student housing on campus in Letts Hall, meals and all after hour and weekend activities. Your Discover the World of Communication Resident Assistant will guide you on your first day of the program. 

In 2019, some of the classes were filled by early March. Additional course sections are added when possible.
