Bio

Amber Husbands is an adjunct instructor in the Film and Media Arts division of the School of Communication. She teaches Communication Law. She is currently Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Discovery Communications, LLC where she negotiates and drafts programming, distribution, and other related deals and advises Discovery television networks on legal issues related to programming.

Prior to joining Discovery, Ms. Husbands was a media attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP where she litigated defamation, privacy, copyright, and other First Amendment-related matters for media clients in state and federal courts. She is also experienced in pre-publication review of books, magazine, and newspapers and pre-broadcast review of television programs.

Ms. Husbands served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert G. Doumar in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division.
