Bio
Dara Klatt is an editor at Washington Life magazine and adjunct professor of PR writing at American University’s School of Communications. She is also the founder of 8th ST PR where she has provided strategic communication, issues management and creative messaging to a cross-section of clients, from global hospitality leaders to high-tech startups and more. Over her career, she has offered media guidance to executives and has successfully managed teams to launch large, complex initiatives, including the launch of Hilton’s Thrive@Hilton global campaign. In 2016, she worked at Discovery Education, managing nearly 40 ongoing programs, including the partnership launches with 3M’s “Young Scientist Challenge,” Lockheed Martin’s “Generation Beyond,” as well as other initiatives with the NBA, Chipotle, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Tiger Woods Foundation. Prior to this, Dara was a Senior Director of Communications with National Geographic Channels, providing corporate communications and consumer publicity for the entertainment cable television networks. She has additional experience in government relations, public affairs, promotions, events and broadcast news.
