Bio
Dara Klatt is adjunct professor of PR writing at American University’s School of Communications. She is also the founder of 8th ST PR where she provides strategic communication, issues management and creative messaging to a cross-section of clients, from Emmy-nominated production companies and global hospitality leaders to high-tech startups and national education non-profits. In addition, she is a contributing editor at Washington Life magazine. Over her career, she has launched large, complex PR initiatives, including Hilton’s Thrive@Hilton global campaign. She worked at Discovery Education, managing nearly 40 ongoing programs, including the partnership launches with 3M’s “Young Scientist Challenge,” Lockheed Martin’s “Generation Beyond,” as well as other initiatives with the NBA, Chipotle, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Tiger Woods Foundation. Prior to this, Klatt was a Senior Director of Communications with National Geographic Channels, providing corporate communications and consumer publicity for the entertainment cable television networks. She has additional experience in government relations, public affairs, promotions, events and broadcast news.
