How AU Students and Crayola Gave Parents a Reason to Play

Students in a Public Relations class at American University School of Communication (AU SOC) taught by professor Dina Martinez, partnered with Crayola to come up with a new way to incentivize families to create more memories and spend more time with each other. They created a new holiday called “Take Your Parent to Play Day”, which gets parents from around the Lehigh Valley area to take the day off of work on August 1 and spend quality time with their families.
Crayola and Discover Lehigh Valley worked with the Valley’s major family attractions – Dorney Park, Lehigh Valley Zoo, and Crayola – and offered families discounts for the day.
“We hope this new holiday will be a great reminder to parents that play time is important for us too — so take a day off from adulting and have fun with your kids,” says Kelly-Anne Suarez, community and media communications manager at Crayola Experience.
Some of the discounts last for the entire month of August, which incentivizes parents to continue bonding with their children and create more memories.
