- Bio
- Darien Smith (He/Him/His) is a First-Year Advisor and AUx Instructor. Darien holds a B.S. in Psychology from Clemson University and an M.Ed. in Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy from the University of Maryland College Park. Darien hopes to combine his understanding of the first-year student experience with his dialogue facilitation skillset to foster the holistic identity development for his advisees. A fun fact about Darien is that he is a “higher education baby” as he was born in Normal, Illinois, home of the Illinois State Redbirds, and grew up in the college town of Clemson, South Carolina. As his parents were college sweethearts and are now collegiate educators, themselves. In his spare time, Darien volunteers as the Social and Community Outreach Chair with the DC Sentinels, the city’s first GLBT friendly basketball league, takes Improv classes, and adventures throughout D.C.
