Bio
Dr. Kristina Sterling leads the clinical faculty for Special Education in Dallas-Fort Worth. She has worked in the field of Special Education for over a decade. During her years working in an ISD, she served as a department chair for Special Education, Special Education resource math teacher, inclusion math teacher, and secondary general education math teacher for the Dallas Independent School District. She is a passionate advocate for equity in the classroom and her passion is helping novice teachers to create curricula that appeal to students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
In 2014, she was recognized as an Outstanding Special Education teacher by the National Association of Special Education Teachers. She has also been recognized for her performance in the classroom by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She is a member of the Educator Preparation Advisory Committee where she has state level input on matters relating to educator preparation programs across Texas. In addition to her work in the area of educator preparation in Dallas, Kristina presents around the country as well as virtually at conferences, providing professional development to tenured and new teachers in the area of inclusive classrooms and culturally responsive teaching practices. Finally, Kristina has her own education-based consulting business that she started in the hopes of providing even more opportunities to work in partnership with districts to make better classrooms for our children. She truly believes in the idea that all children deserve a rigorous, culturally relevant, and inclusive environment to learn, grow, and thrive in and she continues to work toward that mission.
