Jean Accius is an expert in aging, Medicaid and long-term care issues. He is a Senior Strategic Policy Advisor within the Office of Policy Integration at AARP. In this capacity, Jean works with the National Policy Council, State and Regional offices, and other departments to engage in the policy development process and ensure that AARP’s policies are relevant to the needs of the 50+ population.
Prior to this appointment, Jean served as a Project Officer within the Disabled and Elderly Health Programs Group at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In that role, he directed and monitored national grant programs and projects designed to support and improve the delivery of long-term services and supports within and across States.
Dr. Accius sits on the advisory boards for the American Society on Aging’s New Ventures in Leadership Program and the Network for Multicultural Aging. He also serves on the Board for the American University Alumni Association. He holds a master's degree in aging studies from the Claude Pepper Institute at Florida State University, and a Ph.D, in Public Administration from American University.
