Lallen T. Johnson is a social scientist that studies how crime and justice outcomes vary across urban space. He is particularly concerned with how social structural and institutional processes facilitate the occurrence of violence within neighborhoods, as well as the spatial concentration of violence across neighborhoods. His current project explores how gentrification shapes the nature and intensity of formal social control within mass transit systems. Some of his previous studies have been funded by the National Institute of Justice, and disseminated across multiple outlets such as Deviant Behavior, Urban Affairs Review, Crime and Delinquency, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
