Admission to the Program

Applicants must meet the minimum university requirements for graduate study. Admission decisions are based on each applicant's academic record, resume, and the applicant's career interests and motivations. We also assess other characteristics such as maturity, leadership, personal character and potential contribution to the American University community.

Application Process

Graduate Professional Studies has rolling admissions and you can submit an application anytime during one of our two admission rounds. Once a completed application is received, we will review it and notify you of our decision within a one to two weeks.

Graduate Professional Studies is a selective academic and experiential learning program. Due to the limited number of spaces in each track, candidates who receive an admission offer have approximately 4 weeks to place a deposit to join the program. The deposit deadline will be communicated in the acceptance letter and via email.
