Late November/Early December 2018
Arrival information sent to all accepted students who have registered and paid the program deposit. Information includes details on arrival plans, first few days on campus, and internships.
January 9
International Student Orientation Activities
January 10-11
Graduate Professional Studies Orientation (mandatory)
Get ID cards, make course changes and finalize bill paying. (Any student who did not complete their registration forms must come to GPS office before 5:00 pm−this is the last day to register without a $50.00 late registration fee.)
January 14
Internship Fair (morning). Classes begin (afternoon).
January 21
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (no classes, university closed).
January 28
Last day to make changes to Spring 2019 registration (i.e. add or drop classes). Last day to drop spring courses for a 100% refund. All students must begin working at their internships by this date.
January 30
Experiential Learning Forms (internship contracts) due to internship faculty.
February 4
Last day to drop spring courses for a 50% refund.
February 11
Last day to drop spring courses for a 25% refund.
March 10-17
Spring Break (no classes, university offices opened).
March 22
Last day to drop a course. (“W” recorded on transcript for withdrawals from January 29 through March 22).
April 29
Last Day of Classes and Internships. Professional Development Requirement Due.
April 30
Study Day.
May 1-May 7
Final Examinations (Make sure to check the final exam schedule on the American University website, or check with your professor before making travel plans.).
