100 percent Of our job revolves around Veterans and Students receiving VA Benefits
"I would like to extend the warmest of welcomes
to all members of AU's military community. I have been working exclusively with
AU's military since 2008 and have had the pleasure of watching the December
2010 enactment of the Post 9/11 GI Bill and the creation of AU's Yellow Ribbon
program. The passing of this bill created a level playing field for all
eligible military and their dependents seeking an education, making it possible
for them attend the school of their choice. Since 2008, AU's military
population has increased from 80 students to over 500 students, with military
represented in every AU school or college and almost all degree programs. Each
military student's unique experience adds to American University's rich
diversity and the challenge of being a model of inclusion and civility in a
changing society and culture. By helping you navigate the complexities of your
valuable educational benefit we try to ensure that you have the best of
experiences. Please come by our office in Asbury Building 201 and introduce
yourself. We look forward to meeting you."
"Welcome to the AU Veterans’ web-page! To all VA students, current, new, and prospective, we thank you and your family for your service to the country.
Whether you’re a current or new AU student, Service-Member or come from a military family – your contribution to AU comes both highly acknowledged and well respected. To prospective AU students, thank you for considering American University and I hope to see you come on-board. Veterans and military affiliated family members bring a unique experience and intellectual diversity to AU and they are a dynamic group that I enjoy helping very much. I look forward to not only assisting you with all your VA related questions throughout your time here at AU, but also helping you to achieve your goals. As a Veteran who used the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, I understand firsthand how essential this benefit is during your educational journey in the post-military life and in a increasingly competitive job market. I’m honored to be in the position I am in and I hope to hear from you soon. Please feel free to reach out to me using our “Who To Contact” tab or drop by our office if you’re on campus."
