Louisiana
Louisiana is a 3-day exam made up of nine separate essay exams.
MBE Subjects: The MBE is not used.
Subjects Tested: Code Essay subjects – Civil Code 1 (Persons, Community Property, Property and Acquisitive Prescription), Civil Code 2 (Successions, Donations and Trusts), Civil Code 3 (Liberative Prescription, Obligations, Contracts, Sales, Mandate, Leases, Civil Law Security Rights and other Civil Code 3 topics), Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure and Tort; Non-Code Essay subjects – Business Entities, Negotiable Instruments, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence and Federal Jurisdiction and Procedure.

MPRE: A scaled score of 80 on the MPRE is required for admission.
Scoring: Each of the nine essays are worth 100 points. Code subjects carry twice the weight of Non-Code subjects. Applicants who earn a total weighted score of 650 out of 900 will pass the exam.
Filing Deadlines: The deadline for applying to the February 2020 Bar Exam is November 1; late applications are accepted until December 15. The deadline for applying to the July 2020 Bar Exam is February 1; late applications are accepted until May 15.
Fees: Bar exam application fee: $875. Late bar exam application fee: $750.
