Maine
Maine is a 2-day Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) with two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test questions, six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam questions, and 200 multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam questions.
MBE Subjects: Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Torts
MEE Subjects: Business Associations (Agency and Partnership; Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), Conflict of Laws, Family Law, Trusts and Estates (Decedents' Estates; Trusts and Future Interests), Article 9 (Secured Transactions) of the Uniform Commercial Code plus all MBE subjects
Mutlistate Performance Test: "closed universe" practical questions using instructions, factual data, cases, statutes and other reference material supplied by examiners.
MPRE: A scaled score of 80 on the MPRE is required for admission.
Scoring: The passing score is a scaled score of 276. The total score is 50% MBE scaled score and 50% converted essay score from Day 1.
Filing Deadlines: The deadline for applying to the February Bar Exam is December 20; late applications are accepted until December 27; extended late applications are accepted until January 3. The deadline for applying to the July Bar Exam is May 20; late applications are accepted until May 27; extended late applications are accepted until June 3.
Fees: Bar exam application fee: $600. Late fee: $150. Extended late fee: $300.
