Attorney Kertisha Dixon currently serves as Assistant Director of the Office of Academic Excellence and Adjunct Faculty at American University Washington College of Law, where she teaches Advanced Legal Methods. Prior to her appointment at Washington College of Law, she served as an attorney-advisor at the United States Social Security Administration and as an adjunct professor at Bowie State University, where she taught courses on trial advocacy, race, and criminal justice. She began her legal career by serving as law clerk to the Honorable Melanie M. Shaw Geter. She then worked as a family law, staff attorney for House of Ruth Maryland, representing hundreds of domestic violence survivors in Maryland's District and Circuit Courts. Committed to public service, Attorney Dixon provides indigent criminal defendants with legal representation as a court appointed attorney for the District Court of Maryland. She earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Howard University, and she holds a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law. Attorney Dixon is licensed to practice law in Maryland.
