- The Health Services Monitoring Bureau Medical Director shall establish and chair the Committee for the purpose of reviewing placements, safety concerns, overseeing gender related accommodation needs, and overall health-related treatment plans of inmates identified as transgender or intersex.
- The Committee will make recommendations for those inmates who identify as transgender or intersex to be housed in units conducive to their needs. The Committee will consider the inmate’s own views with respect to his or her safety when determining placement and programming assignments for inmates identified as transgender or intersex.

- Inmate Housing: Transgender and intersex inmates will be housed as specified in policies DI-1, Inmate Housing Categories and DI-2, Administrative and Security Segregation.
- Inmates at high risk for sexual victimization shall not be placed in involuntary administrative or security segregation unless an assessment of all available alternatives has been made, and a determination has been made that there is no available alternative means of separation from likely abusers.
- The facility shall assign such inmates to administrative or security segregation only until an alternative means of separation from likely abusers can be arranged, and such an assignment shall not ordinarily exceed a period of 30 days.
- Inmates placed in involuntary administrative or security segregation shall have access to programs, privileges, education, and work opportunities to the extent possible. If the facility restricts access to programs, privileges, education, or work opportunities, the facility shall document the opportunities that have been limited, the reason, and duration of the limitation.
- Placement and programming assignments for each transgender or intersex inmate shall be reassessed at least twice each year to review any threats against and inmate’s safety.
