In September, our Gender and the Practice of Law series, we hosted a panel focusing on immigration law. Our alumnae, Rafaela Rodrigues (National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project), Professor Cori Alonso-Yoder (WCL), and Isabel Gomez (Tahirih Justice Center) served as our panelists and discussed the changes, challenges and triumphs of working in immigration law. | In October, we collaborated with student organizations If/When/How, the Women’s Law Association, and the Black Law Students Association, hosted the Reproductive Justice Panel and Networking Event. The panel featured four reproductive justice experts who work in the District of Columbia. | In November, we hosted our annual event, "Seeing the Invisible: Spotting Gender Issues In First Year Courses” with Professor Ann Shalleck. Students had the opportunity to discuss how gender impacts the law of Torts, Contracts, Property, and Civil Procedure and how the law reinforces or challenges traditional gender roles. |
