Interdisciplinary Project on Human Trafficking

The Women in the Law Program is pleased to host a web forum and blog for the discussion and dissemination of opinions, ideas, and scholarly material relating to human trafficking. Our work in this area is led by WCL Professor Janie Chuang.

The Interdisciplinary Project on Human Trafficking is a collaboration between Harvard Law School and the American University Washington College of Law. It is composed of a group of scholars, activists and practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds including law, anthropology and sociology-- with different political views-- who share a commitment to social justice involving labor, migration and human trafficking. They also share a concern that public debate, particularly on trafficking, is too often simplistic, failing to take account of human aspirations, agency and experiences. With this website they seek to provide access to the best scholarship, activism and reform efforts involving these urgent issues. They believe that evidence-based research and policy are both possible and essential. By making them more available, they seek to contribute to a future in which progress towards ending human exploitation is measured in terms of human dignity, equality, justice and empowerment.
