Change Can’t Wait: The Campaign for American University is nearing its finish line—the ambitious $500 million goal is within sight. Earlier this year, students created the Finish Line Committee to help their peers understand the campaign’s real-time impact and motivate participation. AU students are stepping up—increasing participation by 54 percent in the fall semester alone.
Inspired by the student Finish Line Committee, an anonymous alumnus has committed a $1 million challenge gift to expand the Finish Line Initiative, a call for the entire AU community to join them and help Change Can’t Wait reach its $500 million goal this summer.
The $1 million challenge gift will provide matches to gifts from alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff—this is the final opportunity to be part of Change Can’t Wait and a chance to multiply the impact of an individual gift. AU’s dedicated volunteer groups are also challenged to reach 100 percent participation to unlock additional support.
