Elizabeth (Betty) Douglass

Betty Douglass is the Interim Executive Director of the new AU Student Services Center.  She is responsible for working with administrators across campus to launch this “one stop center” and for overseeing, planning, organizing, supervising and managing the functions and services provided by the Student Services Center.   Her goal in establishing the Center, which will open its doors sometime before fall 2010, is to facilitate a student- centered approach to helping students perform administrative tasks, especially those involving registration and financial services.<br /><br />Ms. Douglass came to American University in March 2009 after over 30 years in non-profit and higher education administration.  For almost 20 years she was the Executive Director of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education in Washington, DC.  Immediately prior to coming to AU she spent over 10 years at UMBC as the Director of Graduate Enrollment and as the Graduate School liaison to the PeopleSoft implementation project.   <br /><br />She received the M.A. degree in Sociology from Duke University and the B.A. degree in Sociology from the College of William and Mary.<br />
