The Global Environmental Politics program offers a unique, specialized, and world-leading graduate environmental studies education. Our distinctive course offerings equip students with the analytical and practical tools to become participants and leaders in the international environmental field.

Our faculty and community partners in Washington DC offer expertise in the politics of sustainable development, energy, climate change, agriculture, urban design, freshwater issues, and much more. Our courses are connected by concern about environmental justice and ethics and the pursuit of effective forms of response to global environmental change.

We have two Masters degree tracks:

Global Environmental Policy, for those interested in an interdisciplinary exploration of efforts to advance environmental protection

Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, a dual-degree program with the United Nations University for Peace in Costa Rica, for those interested in looking at international environmental protection and international development from the South and the North
