Directions, Parking and Hotels

American University's main campus is located at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016.

For directions to AU by car, plane, train and subway, consult our directions guide.

Parking On Campus

We have a variety of ways you can arrange for parking on campus:

By Phone

When you register by calling 202-885-6000, please request a parking permit from the customer relations representative. You will receive a permit, along with your confirmation, via the U.S. Postal Service.

Drop In

You may park free of charge in the Katzen Arts Center garage (P2).

When You Arrive

The Katzen Arts Center is located on Massachusetts Avenue across from our main campus. When you arrive at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Glover Gate NW, turn into the Katzen Parking garage and follow the signs to level P2.

Parking is by guest permit only from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. No permit is needed after 5 p.m. or on weekends. If you have preregistered your visit, your confirmation packet contains your permit. If you have not preregistered, you will need to see the attendant at the Welcome Center front desk and ask for a guest parking permit. It will be necessary to return to your vehicle to display the permit on the dashboard.
