May 17, 2013 - Concrete is expected to be poured early next week for the third floor addition.
Construction of the new steam line to service the building is expected to begin June 17 and be complete by the end of September.
The new transformer vault currently is being excavated and is expected to be completed in the next two weeks.
Construction of the primary steel structure is complete for the infill addition to the building.
Interior shoring work is proceeding in preparation for the demolition phase of interior walls.
Research for the removal and reuse of leftover marble pieces continues.

December 5, 2012 - Construction will continue throughout winter break, with breaks scheduled for December 24-25, 31, and January 1.
November 28, 2012 - The start of foundation work and concrete placement has been postponed until location, identification, and marking of existing telecommunication ducts/conduits, cabling, and underground utility are complete.
November 16, 2012 - The demolition phase is complete.
Underpinning (strengthening and stabilizing the foundation) of the existing structure was completed. Additional foundation work is expected to begin November 19.
The remaining mature trees on the south side of the building have been relocated to the quad side of Battelle-Tompkins.
Underground utility identification and marking is under way.
November 7, 2012 - The large magnolia tree located at the northeast corner of the building was removed. In its place, twelve new trees will be planted on campus. The remaining crate myrtle trees on the south side of the building soon will be relocated to other appropriate area on campus.
The elevator pit underpinning is scheduled to begin Nov. 7.
Foundation work is scheduled to begin Nov. 19. Underground utility identification and marking is under way.

September 27, 2012 - Demolition of the building's interior continues.
Structural steel is being installed and inspected to allow stone removal and interior wall demolition to continue. Stone removal will begin Oct. 1 and continue for approximately two weeks.
Existing trees on the east side of McKinley have been relocated to the new Quadraplex green space. Trees on the south side of the building also will be relocated once the gas line is removed.
Holiday work schedule: Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22, 23 - holidays; Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 24, 25 – holidays; Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 31, Jan. 1 – holidays. Work will resume Dec. 26 – 28.
September 19, 2012 - Demolition continues, with stone removal scheduled to resume next week.
September 11, 2012 - General demolition continues and is nearing completion.
Stone removal will resume later this week. A supplemental structural support system will be installed to allow demolition and stone removal to proceed in a safe and orderly manner.
Five trees from the east side of the building were removed and relocated to the Quadraplex Project landscaping area. Trees on the south side of the building will be relocated soon.
September 5, 2012 - General demolition continues on the flat roof slab, as interior demolition nears completion.
A permanent, steel roof support is being installed. Once completed, the stone façade will be removed.
Removal and relocation of five trees from the east side of the building to the Quadraplex Project landscaping area is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 7.
August 29, 2012 - General demolition continues.
Selected trees will be relocated from the East and South sides of the building to other areas of the campus. AU's landscape architects are coordinating this effort.
August 22, 2012 - Scaffolding is in place and the exterior stone removal process will commence this week.
The slate roof has been removed in the northwest section of the building where the new addition will be built.
The flat roof also will be removed shortly.
Official groundbreaking is scheduled for Saturday, October 20.
August 15, 2012 - Scaffolding for stone removal is being installed this week.
Stone removal work is expected to begin next week.
August 8, 2012 - Demolition work to the interior of the building continues as part of its overall renovation and modernization.
Construction traffic plan has been reviewed by Public Safety and finalized for implementation.
July 24, 2012 - The construction teams are installing additional signage to direct pedestrians around the job site.
The Construction Traffic Management Plan for the site is in place and operating successfully.
Stone removal activities on the site have been suspended until the roof can be removed and supported properly.
Installation of the temporary electric services for the site is scheduled for next week. A temporary overnight power outage during the installation will affect Bender Library. Arrangements already have been made with the library staff.

July 18, 2012 - Tree relocation and removals are on hold pending further evaluations.
July 12, 2012 - Construction fencing has been reinforced after suffering damage from the recent storm.
- Additional directional signage will be installed on the fencing to help people navigate around the construction site.
- Removal of trees on the site has been delayed due to recent weather conditions.
May 15, 2012 – The McKinley building on the quad will undergo extensive renovations to make it the new home for the School of Communication. Demolition and site preparation work is expected to begin in late May.
